Replacing One-Off ADAS Builds With a Reusable Platform

An automotive client developing advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) recognized that repeatedly building custom test vehicles was inefficient and difficult to scale. We helped transform that process into a modular platform that reduced repeated engineering work and improved long-term ADAS testing.
Challenge
Supporting evolving sensors and compute hardware across multiple vehicle programs introduced operational and environmental complexity under real-world driving conditions. The platform needed to remain modular, serviceable, and reliable while operating around expensive sensing equipment and high-volume data collection.
Solution
We approached the platform as a complete operational system rather than just a hardware enclosure. We mapped the full operational lifecycle, including installation, servicing, upgrades, environmental exposure, and data handling. Those requirements informed the platform’s modularity, thermal management, serviceability, and data integrity strategy.
The resulting platform used a modular vehicle-mounted architecture that allowed sensors and compute systems to evolve over time without requiring full redesigns. A key focus was environmental robustness. We developed integrated thermal-management solutions capable of supporting high-performance sensors and compute hardware under demanding field conditions rather than relying on inconsistent vehicle HVAC systems.
Outcome
The platform gave the client a repeatable foundation for ADAS testing and validation. Standardized architecture reduced repeated engineering effort, improved consistency across programs, and made it easier to integrate evolving sensors and compute hardware over time.
