Senior Industrial Designer
The ideal candidate would possess strong visualization (in 2D and 3D), communication, and conceptual skills as well as a balance of aesthetic sensitivity and mechanical aptitude. Applicants must have the ability to manage multiple projects from concept to production while maintaining a high degree of design excellence. Extensive knowledge of materials, manufacturing and rapid prototyping processes is a must. All applicants must hold a BFA or equivalent with 5-10 years’ experience developing medical, high tech and consumer products in a consulting environment. The candidate must be able to communicate eloquently and comfortably with project management, marketing, engineering, and other members of the client’s team on a daily basis.

This position requires the ability to generate and develop a wide variety of viable, compelling design solutions on multiple programs concurrently. Our studio is highly collaborative, with junior, senior and management staff often brainstorming and working together to generate ideas and refine concepts. This position answers to the Director of Design.

Entry-Level Industrial Designer
The ideal candidate would possess strong visualization (in 2D and 3D), communication, and conceptual skills as well as a balance of aesthetic sensitivity and mechanical aptitude. Graphic design sensitivity and experience with UI design is a plus. All applicants must hold a BFA or equivalent with 1-3 years’ experience developing medical, high tech and consumer products with some consulting experience. Designers in this position would be working closely with both design and engineering staff in creative brainstorming sessions, research and documentation, graphical layouts and UI, ideation sketching, presentation preparation, and model making among other activities.

Senior Mechanical Engineer
The ideal candidate will have had direct experience developing aesthetically-refined products from early concept to full production for the consumer, medical, life-science and high-tech industries. A thorough understanding of part and mechanism design for various production processes is expected. The highly collaborative nature of this position will require the candidate to interact comfortably with industrial design, project management, marketing, and other members of the client’s team on a daily basis.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Detailed part and assembly design for low-to-high volume manufacturing
  • Design of mechanisms and electro-mechanical systems
  • Interpretation of industrial design form concepts into robust 3D CAD
  • Communication and collaboration with clients in a wide range of industries
  • Manage projects from concept to production
  • Working with vendors to ensure accurate and timely part production
  • Building and debugging functional prototypes

Qualifications

  • BSME as a minimum
  • 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a product design consultancy and/or consumer products company bringing a diverse range of products from concept to production
  • Strong analytical and technical background, with impeccable attention to detail
  • Advanced SolidWorks part modeling, surfacing, top-down design and assembly management a must, Pro/ENGINEER experience is a plus
  • Experience designing products with automation components (e.g. electromechanical or pneumatic) is desirable
  • Expertise in product documentation, tolerancing and report writing
  • In depth knowledge of various manufacturing and prototype processes (injection molding, sheet metal, pressure forming, casting, etc.)
  • Appreciation for product aesthetics and ergonomics
  • Comfortable dealing with domestic and overseas manufacturing sources
  • Excellent oral, writing and visual presentation skills


Mechanical Engineer
The ideal candidate will have had direct experience developing aesthetically-refined products from early concept to full production. The highly collaborative nature of this position will require the candidate to interact comfortably with our industrial design and engineering team on a daily basis.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Strong analytical and technical background, with impeccable attention to detail

  • Experience designing products with automation components (e.g. electromechanical or pneumatic) is desirable
  • Experience in product documentation, tolerancing and report writing, knowledge of GD&T is a plus
  • Working knowledge of various manufacturing and prototype processes (injection molding, sheet metal, pressure forming, casting, etc.)
  • Basic prototype manufacturing skills (milling, turning, etc.)
  • Appreciation for product aesthetics and ergonomics
  • Comfortable dealing with domestic and overseas manufacturing sources
  • Excellent oral, writing and visual presentation skills
