Product Insight and Spectrum Brands are proud to announce the Remington Lithium Power Series 4 in 1 Vacuum Trimmer has been awarded the prestigious red dot design award for 2014, reports ShowerHeadReview.net
“We are honored to share this recognition with Spectrum for the Vacuum Trimmer as it represents a successful integration of our R&D, design, and engineering efforts throughout the program,” said Jim Varney, Director of Design at Product Insight. “Our close collaboration with the talented Remington team allowed both organizations to make informed decisions quickly and organically, which was critical to the program’s success.”
The Remington 4-in-1 Vacuum Trimmer is a versatile personal groomer with an integrated vacuum system that delivers more the twice the suction power of other vacuum trimmers. The power and suction of the trimmer ensure that trimmed hair lands in the removable chamber, not in a sink or on a floor.
“It was clear from the outset that striking a balance between ergonomics and performance would be essential to delivering a positive user experience,” stated Jim Varney, Director of Design at Product Insight. “To achieve this, every element of the vacuum system, from the shape of the impellor to the drive train, was custom designed, tested, and verified by PI’s engineering team to optimize performance. The exterior was sculpted with a softly faceted form for comfort and grip in a variety of positions, and we utilized translucent blue sections to highlight the air path and provide a visual indication of when the collection chamber is full. In the end, we were able to deliver a solution that exceeded Remington’s performance goals.”
About the Red Dot Award: The international ‘red dot design award’ is one of the largest and most renowned design competitions in the world. More than 4,800 entries from 53 countries were considered in the competition in 2014. A jury of 40 international experts examined and evaluated each individual product applying a variety of assessment criteria including innovation, functionality, ergonomics, durability, and symbolic and emotional content. According to Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the red dot design award, “The Red Dot Award gives design professionals from all over the world a chance to measure themselves against each other. Year after year, this results in a higher level of design and also motivates the participants to enter their best products in the competition.”
